Ive used it to hardcode simplified Chinese subtitles into videos. ![]() You can save yourself a ton of hard work by using Xvid4PSP to hardcode your subs. Maybe it was at one time in the past, but current versions really suck at the job. Xvid4PSP, StaxRip, RipBot264, MEGUI, Xmedia Recode, etc. Handbrake isnt very good for hard coding subtitles. I did reduce the font size but with bigger or smaller size you cannot read at all the text, the letters are full, (e.g. Movie and TV Subtitles in multiple languages, thousands of translated subtitles uploaded daily. I did convert the srt to ssa in Subtitles workshop, but the ssa in Avidemux cannot be configured in terms of Font. If you want burned in subtitles then must you have an external subtitle file like srt/sub. If you are going to convert from a DVD then use the free DVDFab Decrypter to rip the DVD to your HDD. Apparently in v2.6 it has support only for ssa subtitles. XviD4PSP DVDFab DEcrypter(For DVD sources) Preparation Install first. The last oen that I've tried is Avidemux. and this one works, but does not display some UTF-8 characters correctly. I've also tried Freemake Video converter, from a bit strange website. Moreover it does not embed the subtitles in the video it just creates a new separate subtitles track. Even if I selected the proper languge of the subtitles it does not seem to make a difference, and I get some strange signs instead of the right characters. this one worked but there is no UTF-8 support. Basically I rip the VOB, then use AutoGK with the setting at 100 quality, and select what audio and/or subtitles, then use the AVI in XviD4PSP. Add the subtitle file to it by right clicking and Subtitles -> Add Subtitle. ![]() The next one that I've tried is AVIAddXSub. Then I spent around 1,5 hours trying to make VLC convert/export the movie with the subtitles embedded but couldn't. I've started by editting the subtitles in a text editor in UTF-8 and then played it in VLC and it was perfect. It did not display all characters correctly(if this would be the only issue I would be happy). I've created the subtitles with Subtitles Workshop.
